محمد فوزي
Mohamed Fawzi (Arabic: محمد فوزي), (born Mohammed Fawzi Habas Elhaw in 1918 in Tanta Egypt, died 1966) was an Egyptian composer and singer. Mohamed Fawzi was born in 15 August 1918 from a poor family who had 25 brothers and sisters. Hoda Sultan who is a famous singer was Mohamed Fawzi sister. Fawzi learned music from early age and even though he comes from a very poor peasant life but he was determined to have the first Egyptian music studio ever in Egypt. Back then, British studios in Egypt used to take all the profits from Egyptians and Mohamed Fawzi decided to work day and night to achieve his dream. After many years, he opened "Masrphone" (Egypt Phone) where Oum Kalthoum, Mohamed Abdel Wahab and other famous Egyptian and Arabic singers taped their art at his studio. After Gamal Abdel Nasser took over Egypt he decided in the 60's to take over many Egyptian business to be owned by the government. An Egyptian soldier was standing in front of Mohamed Fawzi studio Masrphone and prevented him to enter his own studio. When Mohamed Fawzi protested and said that he's Egyptian and his studio is Egyptian, Gamal Abdel Nasser told him that Egypt needs him and he has to give his studio to the government. Six months later, Mohamed Fawzi died with cancer.
