The Beat Poets
Formed in May 2005, The Beats Poets rise in the international music scene has been a meteoric one. After receiving airplay in their native land on 12 Irish stations, including Today FM where Tom Dunne chose the band as rising artist of the week on his show Pet Sounds. By August 2005 The Beat Poets had won the Xfm unsigned band competition whilst Today FM chose them as one of the 6 top rising bands/artists in the country and the buzz had begun. Following a slot supporting 'The Chemical Brothers' and 'Sonic Youth' in Marlay Park Dublin as part of the 'Bud Rising Festival', the band were asked to perform at the Buzz Magazine entertainment awards in September 2005, and around the same time Ireland's Hot Press magazine picked the band to support 'The Revs' on tour. November 2005 saw the band support number 1 Irish album-selling artists 'The Walls' and headline at the 'Imagine Arts Festival' in Waterford. Entering 2006 The Beat Poets were hailed by Hot Press Magazine as one of 25 new worldwide acts set to have people raving in 2006. The band also supported Nine Black Alps in February '06 and were also invited to do several events at the SXSW festival in Austin Texas. The single was recorded at Manor Park studios with Neal Calderwood (The Answer) and the release will coincide with their debut UK and more Irish dates, as well as performing at this year¹s prestigious Hard Working Class Heroes in Dublin and returning to the Waterford Arts festival in Ireland. Just over a year old, The Beat Poets are the latest band to take flight from their homeland.
