Dopedemand
Phil Nixon, aka 'dopedemand' has been playing keyboards and writing music for nearly two decades now. He first got his teeth into programming/writing musical soundscapes/FX for for the videogame industry, using Soundtracker on the Amiga, whilst at the same time working as a Lead artist in the same field. As a young wippersnapper, he was influenced by the sounds of 'Paul Hardcastle', 'Jan Hammer', and 'Brian Eno', along with many other talented Synth wizards the world over, and got a little Yamaha mini-synth for X-Mas...which a short time later progressed up to a DX7. At the same time during the early eighties 'Jazz/Electro funk' caught his attention, and with that, he learned to play the bass guitar, to accompany his keys. Jump forward a few years, and after playing the club field in a few bands - whilst still writing videogame scores, he decided to start writing music - proper like. He went shopping for more synths. With the arrival of bands such as 'Boards of Canada' and artists such as 'Moby' and 'Omni Trio' ..ie the post electronic 'chillout' era. He decided put his foot down with a 'firm hand', and began investing more of his spare time writing music - music with a more defined direction, origionality and feel. With musical tastes built up over 30 years, along with thousands of CD's from Classical to DnB, Rock to Experimental, Electronica to folk...and thats just the tip of the iceberg!...You never know quite what to expect from him next, be assured this though, it will be well wicked. Thus, 'dopedemand',' 'Monodog' &' 'Psi-kat' were born...attempting to encompass all of his tastes, primeraly Breaky, funky, quirky electronica, downtempo darkness and high speed, full on deep DnB. With his debut track 'Ready Set' included on 'DEMONS' 12" (Jon Kennedy Federation) and a brand new EP 'Theres Your Rainbow...' almost finished, with new tracks being constantly forged for his other psudonames, It's going to be an interesting ride over the next year or so... Sit back, spark up, enjoy.
