In 1988 Guy Holmes quit his job as Head of Promotions at Island Records and set up Gut Reactions, a promotions company. When he heard ‘I'm Too Sexy’ by Right Said Fred, he struck a deal with the band but despite believing the song was a hit, he could not find a label to release it, so he formed a label of his own. The single went on to sell 6 million worldwide.
